Before practicing law, Professor Bolus devoted a year to full-time service through AMERICORPS Vista, a national program designed to combat poverty by building the organizational, administrative, and financial capacities of community-based organizations that assist low-income communities. Professor Bolus spent her year of service at Survivors of Torture, International, a San Diego-based nonprofit committed to serving the psychological, legal, medical, and social needs of survivors of politically-motivated torture.

While at UCLA, Professor Bolus was a Managing Editor of the Women’s Law Journal, completed a clerkship with the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, and volunteered extensively with the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. After graduating, Professor Bolus joined Jones Day, focusing her practice on the representation of management in labor and employment disputes. Professor Bolus represented clients in a range of matters involving both California and federal law, and counseled employers on their employment policies and procedures. In addition to her regular practice, Professor Bolus devoted a significant amount of time to pro bono matters.

Most recently, Professor Bolus served as Legal Advocate and Contract / Compliance Manager at Community Resource Center (CRC), nonprofit social services agency serving residents throughout coastal North San Diego County.

There, Professor Bolus assisted residents of the Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Programs with various family law issues, and oversaw the Agency’s portfolio of federal, state, and local government grants and contracts.
