Structured Study Groups and Study Group Placement

Beginning in Spring 2013, Structured Study Groups guided by ASP Mentors will provide special help in studying core 1L courses and help first-year students develop additional skills in reading court opinions. Structured Study Groups use cooperative learning techniques monitored by trained ASP Mentors, who are successful upper-level students. Students who participate in the Structured Study Groups learn to demonstrate subject mastery to peers, learn test-taking skills, and practice exam writing. Structured Study Groups offer the advantages of frequent peer workshops and feedback to help students determine how well they are doing and where they need help.

For students interested in participating in a study group at any time during law school and looking for a group with which to connect, Academic Success helps match up students with similar study habits, schedules and goals so that students can be responsible for their own learning.
