FaceLift is an incredible community project sponsored by Community Housing Works and various volunteer groups, including the San Diego County Bar Association. Twice per year, hundreds of volunteers gather in a neighborhood in the City Heights area of San Diego to "spruce-up-a-block" in a day.

Community Housing Works puts forth tremendous effort throughout the year to choose the homes that will be "lifted" and to organize the massive amounts of volunteers who come together each summer and fall to make the neighborhood renovations possible.

Each FaceLift project makes over anywhere from a dozen to twenty homes in a chosen neighborhood, giving priority assistance to senior citizens, disabled persons, and low income families. For many years, the SDCBA has been a valuable part of the volunteer community in each event, and we are proud to say that many TJSL students, alumni, and employees participate at the event.

The SDCBA just completed this Fall's FaceLift Project on October 22, and there many volunteers from TJSL. Caron Woodward '06 was the house captain for the SDCBA's home this time around, and reports "The FaceLift Project was a great success. The volunteers from TJSL and the San Diego County Bar association worked hard to finish the landscaping and painting on our home, and were able to assist other groups who were in need of some extra helping hands. This is such a great community event, and I was thrilled to be a part of it again this Fall. I look forward to working with Community Housing Works to transform the next neighborhood in City Heights next Spring!"

Other volunteers from TJSL included Amy Buchanan, Sacha Cruse, Renee Galente, Eric Ganci, Nancy Johnson, Stephanie Lamson, Andrew Poplin, and Andrew Moher.
