Just one week after San Diego Gas and Electric presented Thomas Jefferson School of Law with an award for its strides in going “green,” TJSL announces that the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has recognized the law school’s new East Village campus for its engineering. The ASCE awards committee selected TJSL to receive an “Outstanding Award” in Structural Engineering as part of the 2011 Civil Engineering Project Awards.
ASCE will present TJSL Dean Rudy Hasl with the award at its annual award banquet in La Jolla on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Nasland Engineering, which performed the actual structural engineering work on TJSL’s new eight-story facility, also will receive an award. Carrier-Johnson architects, Midwest General construction management, Bovis Lend Lease construction, and Hope Engineering are also named as awardees. Display boards of the new TJSL campus will be available for viewing at the awards banquet.
On March 9, TJSL received a “Sustainable Communities Champions Award” and more than $111,000 in energy-efficiency incentive awards from San Diego Gas & Electric for the school’s participation in the utility’s Sustainable Communities and Savings by Design Programs.
